Jupiter into Capricorn 2019 - 2020

GoatKid jupiter into Capricorn
Jupiter into Capricorn Art by Kovacs Anna Brigitta -

Hey all, ready to feel like a kid again with Jupiter into Capricorn?

After twelve months in Sagittarius, Jupiter crosses over the Zero Degree Aries Point (aka AP) and into the sign of Capricorn! The last time this happened was December 19, 2007. Here are the dates for the December ingress:

Jupiter into Capricorn
LA - Dec 2 - 10:20 am
NY - Dec 2 - 1:20 pm
LON - Dec 2 - 5:20 pm
SYD - Dec 3 - 5:20 am

What will Jupiter into Capricorn be like?

Remember, the planets represent an energy that wants to express through you. They are the actors on stage. The sign the planet is in represent HOW that energy expresses. They are the costumes the actors wear.

So think of Jupiter as an actor. He's a king, for sure, big, expansive, adventurous and spontaneous.  He makes grand gestures, brings golden opportunities and boost confidence. Sometimes to the point of self-aggrandizement.

But in this upcoming film titled Jupiter into Capricorn, he wears a subdued cloak. Think grounded, contained, thoughtful. Garb best suited for planning, scrutiny, due diligence, hard work.

Yes, it seems like a 180° contrast, but the combination could be amazing.

How Jupiter and Capricorn Combine

It might be getting serious about growth and prosperity. Turning ideas into practical results. Looking twice before you leap into the next big adventure. Committing to the things you love. Pacing success. Pursuing excellence and not giving up.

Or maybe, feeling like a kid again!

What About the Fall?

It's true. Jupiter is in its Fall in Capricorn.

Think of it like this. Not all planets are equally well disposed in each sign. They have their favorites and their challenges. Jupiter in Capricorn is an inherent challenge because it evokes contrasting expressions: expansion through containment. Spontaneity with planning. Winging it with set goals. Goofing off while working hard. The visionary pragmatist.

There is tremendous opportunity in the contrast.

Read more about the planetary dignities and divisions of the signs.

The Creative Paradox

Put simply, Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, has the vision. It is energy that reaches out to the field of infinite possibilities and experiences pure creation.

Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, seeks real, tangible results... and so the paradox is born. As long as you have your Jupiter vision, it is perfect, limitless, transcendent. Always expanding. When you turn that vision into reality, it becomes finite and ultimately flawed.

But if the vision stays in the imagination, it never manifests. Once built though, it falls short as the truth of it will never reach the level of perfection you can see in your mind's eye. What to do?

Jupiter in Capricorn is a twelve month span of time to learn how to allow for both. Vision AND manifestation.

How to Allow for Both?

Let's use the goat kid as an example. Surefooted on the cliff's edge. Bounding up the mountain with glee. Adventurous but always coming back to mom when she calls.

Bottom line, there is tremendous opportunity in this contrast if you harness (Capricorn) the horsepower (Jupiter).

Also think about expanding (Jupiter) your financial savvy (Capricorn). According the the Astro Twins,

If you’ve been manifesting consciously, (Jupiter in Capricorn will) feel like someone poured Miracle-Gro on your balance sheet. - Ophira and Tali Edut

Decans of Capricorn

Over the course of the next twelve months, Jupiter rolls through the three decans of the sign. Check the dates and note any shifts or added awareness.

0-10 degrees is Saturn/Saturn ruled. December 2, 2019 to January 15, 2020

Pure Capricorn. The healthy ambition is well developed here, along with practicality and general desire for self-sufficiency. Very capable. Can be reclusive. May work alone, but always working. Expect the biggest contrast of Jupiter into Capricorn during these months.

10-20 degrees is Saturn/Venus ruled (January 15, 2020 to March 9, 2020 and then July 25 to October 31, 2020.

Venus softens Capricorn with increased sensuality, artistic affinity and refinement. More play, which Jupiter will love. Must watch overindulgence during times Venus is stronger than Saturn (the time of Venus in Libra). More social, less introspective. It's a blessing that Jupiter in Capricorn will spend over five months in this decan. There is much less contrast with the additional ruler Venus.

20-30 degrees is Saturn/Virgo, March 9, 2020 to July 24 and then November 1, 2020 t0 December 20, 2020.

Mercury's rulership of Virgo lightens Capricorn with a swift and alert intellect, sharp wit, fresh curiosity and subtle flirtation. Just note it can be critical if unhappy or feeling trapped. Needs practical and intellectual means of expression. Open the windows and doors. Jupiter in this decan can get a hell of a lot of research/study done and come into their own as the speaker, teacher, wise owl.

Conclusions

Take a look at the Capricorn sector of your chart and track Jupiter's transit there. Note any aspects he makes, and the decans he passes through. Think of how this will be blessing it for the next twelve months.

Remember, you have the chance to feel like a kid again, in all the divers and contrasting ways possible.

Enjoy!

Mercury Rx 2017

Screen Shot 2017-08-12 at 10.40.10 AMMercury Rx August 13 - September 5

Hey everyone! I'm boosting the Mercury Rx post to the top so we can all share our experiences.

As per Mercury Rx Astro-LOA Flash - Drop the sails and relax into a becalmed phase with Mercury Retrograde. Yes, Mercury, messenger of the gods, is Stationary/Rx in Virgo, then moves backwards into Leo until Sept 5. It's a time to rethink your steps, reconsider offers, reflect on your choices and redo where necessary. Sure, mechanics and technology can go a bit haywire, communications, keys, tickets, bookings, contracts, letters and words too. Don't fight it. Reflect. This is a time of readjustment. Tally ho!

Quick Note: Within minutes of me posting this, power went out in the laundry room, causing a fuse to blow that took out the entire block. Waiting for the electrician now .... you have to love this, right? Mercury is Rx in my first (appearances? not great when you can't wash clothes!) and going back over my Asc into the 12th. OH and don't forget to look at your SOLAR HOUSES. This is my SOLAR Fourth House  - power out in the HOME!

Here are the Mercury Rx Details

Screen Shot 2017-08-12 at 11.40.05 AM
Graph from Cafe Astrology.

Screen Shot 2017-08-12 at 9.07.27 AMYou can see that the HOT degrees are between 28 Leo and 11 Virgo. Ring a bell? 28 Leo is the degree of the total solar eclipse later this month. If you have ANYTHING within 7 degrees of this point (21 Leo to 5 Virgo) it will be LIT UP.

How can you honor this the planet, point or house involved? Pre-pave the experience you want and see where it takes you.

Mercury Rx through the houses

This is where you want to contemplate, rethinking your previous ideas, approach or beliefs.

First - Appearance, personality traits, outlook on life

Second - $$$, resources, talents, peace of mind

Third - Teaching, learning, writing, talking, connecting

Fourth - Home, family, ancestors, emotional ground

Fifth - Creative expression, offspring (books/kids etc), romance

Sixth - Health, pets, daily routine, magic

Seventh - Socially significant relationships, contracts

Eighth - sex, death, taxes, shared resources, trust

Ninth - New horizons, travel, beliefs, WWW

Tenth - Career, mission, profession, public relations

Eleventh - Friends, goals for the future, groups

Twelfth - unconscious, dreams, giving and receiving, meditative states

Remember, Mercury Retrograde is not a time to push forward until you reTHINK your goals and actions. AFTER the 5th of September, the energy starts to free up and move forward at a better clip, but it doesn't clear the zone until the 19th of September. Full steam ahead then!

Mercury Rx is Trickster energy.

The trickster comes along when we are stuck, feeling trapped, or out of touch with authenticity of SELF. When we get into such a state, sooner or later the Trickster will blow the doors and windows open so we can breathe fresh air again.

When the Trickster shows up, an experience of synchronicity is at hand, but it can seem, at first, like strife.

Like in the story of the uninvited guest ...

Thanks to Walt Disney, we are familiar with Sleeping Beauty.  Although the focus is on Prince Charming, love’s first kiss, and HEA, the action of the tale comes from the curse of the uninvited guest. The 13th fairy.  It is this neglected enchantress that causes the entire kingdom to fall into unconsciousness.  (Where 'kingdom = Self).

The message has to do with neglect and the kinds of synchronicities evoked by the 'Trickster'.

This is not a reference to neglecting health, diet or exercise and then suffering the physical consequences.  It's about neglecting the needs of our inner world and the consequences of the oversight.

Mercury Rx can be a time where neglected content of the psyche comes up into consciousness. Look the the house(s) Mercury is transiting backwards through for hints on what this content might be.

Feel free to post questions and comments here.

Happy Mercury Rx and Eclipse Season!

xxKimmy

Icarus Edge

WEEKEND Astro-LOA Flash

Asteroid 1566 Icarus, orbiting between Mercury and Earth, is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn for the first time since Dec 2015 (see ephemeris below. Icarus is also 'out of bounds'). Taking 409 days to journey through the zodiac, this conjunction can manifest as a desire to take a leaps - right off the edge!

Whatever feels like it's holding you back is your launchpad. Your springboard.  From that discontent, you move forward in one, huge, blind leap.

But wait! Isn't Mercury there too, turning retrograde for the next three weeks?

Yes, and even though you may find a creative ‘way out’ of a perceived limitation or obstacle, you'll be rethinking the moves as we roll into 2017.

But that's okay!

You might conclude it was the perfect step to take, or there could be some course correction. Either way, the impulse is to ‘fly free’ will allow your spirit to soar and your life to change for the better.

The Mythos

Icarus was Daedalus’s son who, ignoring his father’s warning not to fly too close to the sun, lost his feathered wings, fell to the sea and drowned. Not a very successful outcome, though he did escape the prison tower they’d been in for way too long. Some people associate Icarus with a kind of crash and burn mentality. He's like The Fool in the Tarot, not looking where he is going, foolhardy and reckless.

Not me.

I see this energy as freedom. Expansion. Liberation!

True, 1566 Icarus on Pluto can represent some extreme measures, feelings and insights but mainly it represents an attempt to escape intolerable situations. It is the impulse to get out of unfair circumstances, or go for liberating goals that others might say are impossible. Note: It doesn’t have to always end ‘badly’.

What can Icarus conjunct Pluto do for you?

Icarus energy set free can be vivid, creative inspiration. Trapped and he is like a wild bird caged. Ever had that feeling?

It’s like an crazy urge to run like hell when all they’ve said is, sign here, or pick you up at 7, or maybe even I do . . .

Icarus with Pluto is a chance to gain a deeper insight on the ‘flight’ side or our fight or flight response. Where do you feel like flying the coop? Is it fear or instinct or healthy self-awareness?

Take a moment to think about it over the next few days and eliminate a toleration or too. Why? Because tolerating something is not always a virtue. It can be a heavy energy drain. (Read more about Granting Freedom from Tolerations.)

Here’s what Jeannette Maw has to say about it:

Toleration: To tolerate something means to “allow the existence of, to permit or endure or put up with something.” This implies that the something (or someone) is less than ideal and tends to drain a person’s energy. Thus, a toleration is often a hindering influence to the vibration.

Leverage the Icarus/Pluto energy and Toss out Tolerations now!

If any of you know where Icarus is in your natal chart, feel free to mention it here. Mine’s exact on my descendant – the cusp of the house of relationship. A freedom lover if there ever was one.

Have a great weekend!

xxKim

Review from earlier post on FalconAstrology.com

ariesThe ZERO Degree Aries Point Defined

Think of the Aries point, or vernal equinox as akin to a Node. It marks the place where the sun crosses the equatorial plain going north. It acts like a Sun/earth meet-up, as opposed to the Lunar nodes which involve the Sun/earth/Moon).

In the Uranian system, the Aries Point, or AP, also links to zero degrees of all the cardinal signs (as seen on a 90 degree dial). Every chart—natal, progressed or horary—has the AP at exactly the same zero degrees, yet each chart will be unique as far as the house placement of this degree and the planets and other points that relate to it. Think of the AP as a 0 degree cardinal cross involving Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

The significance of the AP

The AP represents a movement (cardinal) from an inner quality to an outer manifestation. It orients us towards the world at large—society, public events and all relationships propelled from the individual to the collective. Sometimes it represents a "spectacular out rush of energies... and involvement with the world at large" Celest Teal

The AP also seems to relate to meetings with those famous, respected or expert in their field.

aries As the first degree of Aries, this point suggest how our “will to be”, or sense of I AM, moves out from the subjective and into manifest reality.

cancerAP on the first Degree of Cancer, this point suggest how our need to love and nurture, our sense of “I Feel”, moves from the subjective into the world.

libraWith the first degree of Libra, this placement says, “I relate”, suggesting how our drive to interact with others in socially significant ways moves from our inner world and out towards other individuals.

capricornFinally, the first degree of Capricorn, this placement says, “I produce”, suggesting how our urge to bring tangible results moves from “self” to society as a whole.

Other Astrologers' Thoughts on the AP

Isabel Hickey  said that it the AP is the initial point where the spirit incarnates, the starting point of the SELF. By house and aspect contact, the AP indicates how we project out into the public, meeting life in distinct ways that the collective recognizes, acknowledges (or judges) and remembers us by.

Don McBroom calls the AP the Power behind dominant traits and public projection. He says, “…the AP can be an indicator of an individual's Potential for Public Projection. Often this measurement was uncannily related to the person's claim to fame or for what they will be remembered. When there was direct contact between a specific Planet or Point (i.e. Ascendant or Midheaven) and the AP (within a two-degree orb), there was frequently a distinguishable relationship with the energies traditionally associated with that planet that was publicly observable in the individual.

When a planet or point conjuncts the AP

The nature and energy of any given planet adds oomph when it meets the AP. It often represents what the public at large recognize most readily in us, or remember us for. Here are a few examples:

Sun - Mars on the AP

Sun-AP - Our energy, vitality and drive seeks to express through society. People see us for our yang, extrovert qualities as we propel our creative drive into the collective. The famous individual.

Moon-AP -  Here the inner world of feelings, reflections and instincts expresses in overt ways, and these qualities catch the public eye. The famous psychic. Career as mother/nurturer.

Mercury-AP - This represents the intellect, thoughts and communications as they capture social attention. We express our witty, bright, mercurial, and clever side. The famous writer.

Venus-AP - Our sensual, accommodating, people pleasing ability to connect and bond with others moves out into a greater social arena. People see us as capricious, artistic and unpredictable. The famous artist.

Eros-AP - This suggests our passionate desire for risk taking and transformation captures the collective. People see us as tantalizing or threatening, according to their own views. The performer. The court jester. The Casanova. The charismatic.

Mars-AP  - Suggests our assertive, direct and action oriented qualities grab the attention of society. They see us as commanding, raw and imposing. The famous warrior.

Jupiter - Pluto on the AP

Jupiter-AP  - Can mean our leadership qualities, expansiveness, optimism and call for justice draw the attention of Society. We are seen for our vision, immensity, and joviality. The famous world leader.

Saturn-AP Suggests our ability to build tangible results through persistent and sustained effort is highlighted by public acclaim. We are seen for our ambition, caution and pragmatic detail. The famous corporate director.

Chiron-AP suggests renown for our ability to teach, understand, strive for the impossible and restore compassion. We are seen as a healer for those who have lost faith or are in despair. The famous Guru.

Uranus-AP suggests our ability to make sudden changes, rebel against dogmatic convictions and break out of the safety zone is noticed by society. We are seen as surprising, inventive and inspiring. The famous revolutionary.

Neptune-AP The longing for the divine and the desire to merge with the collective unconscious is captured by the projection of society. We are seen as the public want to see us. The famous movie star.

Pluto-AP The ruthless drive for power and control is noticed socially as it wrestles with the need to plumb the depths of the unconscious mind. We are seen for our potent qualities, the dark hero who can be transformed. The famous eccentric.

Natal Points on the AP

Ascendant-AP Being known for personality traits and interactions in the world. Having famous friends!

Midheaven-AP Known for social achievement through career, mission or profession. Working with famous people!

North Node-AP Being known for following the path to the future. Having a famous guide!

South Node-AP Being known for redeeming the path of the past. Being a guide to others.

Orbs

Some astrologers use a 2° orb, allowing anything from 28° of the mutable signs to 2° of the Cardinal. I use a little tighter, 1.5° either way. Use what works best for you. If a planet acts like a conjunct at 2° off, the call it valid.

Remember, the ASCENDANT describes the way we put ourselves out into the world: “Hey, this is my personality! This is how I initiate things and assert myself. This is how I look.” Isabel Hickey said the Ascendant was the window through which we view the world and that seems to work both ways. It is often the way the world sees us, on a PERSONAL level. Think of Aries as the natural ruler of the Ascendant and first house with its emphasis on personal self-awareness. This is Me, Here Now!

Yet the MIDHEAVEN is not personal, like the Ascendant. It is public. It has to do with our social standing, career in life, mission or profession. Now, instead of personal appearances (Asc.) we are in the realm of PUBLIC APPEARANCES. This is our social identity and often reflects how we interact with “the public” or the collective. The Asc. is individual identity, the MC is social identity. Think of Capricorn as natural ruler of the MC with the Sea-goat’s ambitious, pragmatic (and sometimes mystic), social awareness.

The Ascendant is always that moment of ascension, and the MC is a moment of culmination. The AP, however, can occur anywhere in the 365 degrees! It is always 0 Aries but where it falls is unique to us (if we know our birth time!)

By contrast to the Asc and MC, the AP is a solar node. It’s energy is about INSTIGATION, beginnings, and action, not in terms of personal needs and drives or even for career or profession, but for Solar manifestation and distinction.

It is not so much how you see the world or leap (or tip toe) into activity (Ascendant) and not so much what you will encounter and express as you pursue your social ambitions or mission in life (MC). The AP isn’t so much how we interact with society (MC) but how and WILL the world see us! It can indicate the relative “fame” of an individual (or infamy) and how society at large or world events may effect our lives.

We are not all touched equally by these kinds of things! The AP has to do with who, or what, in society, we notice and, like the two way window of the Asc., who or what will notice us. According to the Uranian School, the AP is also our concept of the world, people in the public life and our approach to manifest reality!

What about the house(s) where the AP is found?

The AP is literally, and symbolically, the point where the spirit (SUN) enters manifest reality (EARTH). For everyone, that is an ARIES thing (or a cardinal thing: action, initiation, inauguration). WHERE that initiation of spirit into matter occurs, is what becomes important. What house is it in? What area of life will evoke the feeling of connection to and action with the collective? The answer here tells us where it is we “begin” in relationship to the world at large.

What about midpoints that include the AP?

The authors of "Working with Astrology" state that the Aries Point and the midpoints to it were considered by Alfred Witte to be of great importance in every chart, and next in importance only to the MC.(page 437). For Robert Hand the Aries Point, which was used by the Greeks and also in the beginnings of our modern horoscopic astrology, is very subtle. “It isn´t an energy supply like a real planet but it is considered like the last one because it forms aspects and it can be the focus for the combinations of midpoints”.(Horoscope Symbols", Robert Hand)

The AP is the connection to the world in general, our link to manifest reality. To unravel what this means, look at the CLOSEST planet or mid-point between 28 degrees of mutable and 2 degrees of cardinal signs in your chart. What would that be? What does that say about your relationship to society? How do they see you?

What about Transits or progressions to the AP?

Transits to the AP awaken the way and means of projection out into the collective, tending to indicate events more public than private, more famous than obscure. To unravel the meaning of transits to the AP, start by observing the planets, asteroids or points that are transiting. What dose that transit want to wake up? What does it need? What does it have to offer? Answers to these questions will help in understanding what the AP means in practical terms, and how that applies to the immediate moment.

Quick Review

To summarize, use these quick steps to get started.

Chart of the character James Bond with the Zero degree Aries Point highlighted in the 7th house

Chart of the character James Bond with the Zero degree Aries Point highlighted in the 7th house

1) Create your chart online at Astro.com

2) Find your Ascendant and any other point in the chart

aries3) Look for the Aries glyph -  and remember the signs run counter clockwise around the chart. In the case of James Bond, on the right, 8 Aries rules (sits on) the 8th house cusp, so we go back 8 degrees into the 7th house to find 0 Aries (8-8 = 0)

Where you find 0° Aries

Amp up your physical and mental activities, be the boss, lead the way and nurture (respect) your inner warrior. For bond, this would probably mean facing ‘open enemies’ or taking over direction in a partnership.
